Petunias Petunias Petunias ...

This is Highway 81, one of the two that go through Watertown. Each spring my hometown plants Petunias for miles all along both sides of this highway. We have crews that care for them and keep them looking sharp. We take our summers seriously here on the Prairie.

  1. You have a welcoming street going through town, Laurie. Hope those summery colors will last into fall.

  2. I'm glad to see them well cared for. A lot of times, towns plant flowers and then let them wither -- and there's nothing sadder than a withered median strip!

  4. Waterloo used to do that.. However, that tradition, like many before it, has also died... It's becoming a shriveled up wasteland of what used to be a town. I think that is why I love Watertown so much. It's the one thing that has stayed essentially the same since I was a child.
