I am still on the road and the skies are beautiful everywhere I have been. I took this photo at Gettysburg on Wednesday ... it's the monument to the great state of Louisiana. Isn't she gorgeous ? Sculptor, Donald Delue, calls her The “Spirit of the Confederacy” but she is also said to be Saint Barbara, the patron-saint of artillerymen because of the flaming cannonball she is holding in her right hand. See skies around the world, and history as well at http://www.skyley.blogspot.com
Well I learned something new every day. The patron saint of artillerymen.
ReplyDeleteDo the people they are shooting at have a patron saint also?
Great photograph.
Nice photography. Well, she must be very skilled at playing instrument as she only used her left hand.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I want to try sushi in your town!!!
Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful weekend.
How lovely. I'm so glad that you were able to make this wonderful trip. Love your new blog header photo, too! WOW. That is gorgeous. Have a great weekend with your BF.

ReplyDeleteNice shot!!! I like the silhouette effect of the statue agains the sky!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, I've been called a lot of things, but never "Saint Barbara!" Gettysburg is right next door to Lancaster County, PA, where I was born and raised. Have fun, Laurie - stay safe.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous girlfriend.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels to you all!!!
I like how you framed your photo, with the autumn trees in the background. Interesting what the statue symbolizes. Interesting that the statue blows out imaginary cannonballs.
ReplyDeleteSu-sieee! Mac
This and That. Here and There. Now, Sometimes Then.
