It's All In Your Head ...

OH MY GOD !!! On his hospital bedside table, Ron has the Molly Bolt drain that was in his upper forehead. When I used the word "port" yesterday I was trying to be gentle.

Having it removed, I heard him scream the Bee Jesus out of himself. No surgery. No anesthetic. Just ...

Laurie: "Hey, Dr. Asfora, How's it going"?

Dr. Asfora: "Great! I just did a 6 hour surgery".

Ron ... Concerned: "When can I get this thing out of my head"?

Laurie: "Yes ... He looks like the Tin Man".

Dr. Asfora: "How about now"? Screw to the left, screw to the left, screw to the left ... Yank!

Ron ... Whipped: "If I only had a brain".

Laurie: "You do ... and a heart too ... Thank God they found them".

Ron ... singing:
"And Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man ...

doo doo ..

that he didn't,

didn't already have ...

doo doo".

He's having his second best day. His strength has returned and his personality continues to emerge. He will have PT tomorrow and we will take it from there. God IS good.

  1. I'm so happy to hear this.... I know it is a HUGE relief to see "Your Ron" coming back!

I want you to go to the book and get a book that really helped me when my son was in the NICU (he spent the first 5 1/2 months of his life in the NICU, and this book helped me TREMENDOUSLY...) It's a daily devotional called "Streams in the Desert". It's written for people that are enduring a long and very difficult 'season'. I can all but guarantee that it will really help you. (Heck, if I knew your mailing address I would have already sent you a copy!)

Blessings, Peace and Patience to you and your sweet husband. Hang in there, girlfriend!

  2. P.S. 'Streams in the Desert' by E.B. Cowman is the full listing of the book... available at any bookstore OR if you can't find it, email me your address (my email is on my profile) and I will drop everything, go to my bookstore and send you a copy in the mail. (That book got me through some very very dark times when I thought my son was not going to make it... ).

  3. Two good days in a row is fantastic. His sense of humor is a Godsend I am sure.
The bolt, does not sound good at all. Thank goodness that is out.
    Take care

  4. Youch!

Continuing to think of you -- thanks for keeping us all up to date on Ron's progress. :)
